This copy of Trade Data Manager may be freely used to try out the features of the program and to evaluate the program, using Commodity System Incorporated's (CSI) database and the special test account. Users may obtain a personal account from CSI to create custom portfolios (see below).
Trade Data Manager is a complete database management, downloading, accounting, and charting system for stock and commodity futures data.
You can use Trade Data Manager to download daily price, volume, and open interest data for nearly any stock or commodity traded on major exchanges, directly to your local database. You can also download historical data for stocks and commodities going back 22 years or more. Data is downloaded from the host computer at Commodity Systems Incorporated (“CSI”) in Boca Raton, Florida. CSI is the oldest and largest supplier of stock and commodity futures daily and historical data.

Downloading of daily or historical data is supported at rates up to 14400 baud, and can take place in the “background”, allowing you to use your Macintosh for other applications while performing large downloads.
Trade Data Manager maintains a database of all stock and commodity data that you wish to subscribe to in a variety of data file formats, including simple tab, blank, or comma delimited ASCII text format (useful for importing data directly into spreadsheet programs), or in CompuTrac/M™ binary format. Each of the stock or commodities that you are subscribing to are defined in a “Roster” file. Trade Data Manager uses the Roster file to keep track of your entire personal portfolio.
All of Trade Data Manager's data and control file formats are fully documented, so you can create your own automated trading system using Trade Data Manager's database files directly. You can even create a trading system using a simple spreadsheet program, by using the macro language supported within the spreadsheet application.
Price and volume bar-charts can be displayed graphically on your monitor, or printed to your printer, in either daily, weekly, or monthly bar-chart format. You can scale prices according to the current window, or scaled to the highest high and lowest low of the entire file. Editing of file data can be done “in-place” by simply clicking on the price or volume bar of interest, which brings up an editor dialog. Multiple chart windows (up to 64) can be displayed simultaneously on your monitor.
Current open-orders and open positions are kept in a special Account Status file which is managed by Trade Data Manager. Trade Data Manager will perform daily accounting functions after each daily update, allowing you to keep track of changes to open and closed account equity, trades that have been opened or closed, individual position open account equity, and total account equity.
You can display current open positions and open-orders or day-orders that are stored in the Account Status file graphically on your charts, giving you an intuitive view of your open positions and stops.
Various data management tools are also provided, including the ability to perform simple continuous contracting for commodities, contract roll-over, and stock splits.
Trade Data Manager maintains a log of all daily changes to account equity and all trading activity in a special Account History file. This file can be directly imported into a spreadsheet program, providing you the ability to monitor trading effectiveness, or to perform taxable gain calculations, graphs of trading activity, or statistical effectiveness.
Trade Data Manager also works directly with CompuTrac/M as a full featured Data Retrieval Application (“DRA”), and can perform unattended, scheduled data collection while you are away from your Macintosh.
Trade Data Manager is fully compatible with any Macintosh model from the Mac Plus onward, System 4.1, 6.0.x, 7.0, and 7.1, and is MultiFinder-aware. Trade Data Manager is “System 7 savvy”, and supports balloon help, drag and drop, and core Apple Events. Trade Data Manager also fully supports the Apple Communications ToolBox. Trade Data Manager is “32-bit clean”, and virtual memory compatible. Trade Data Manager requires only 512 KBytes of main memory to operate.
